In the current political atmosphere plain resistance - a complete NO - may be counter productive. Positions may harden, to the detriment of the "weaker' party, namely IIMs.
We must take this as an opportunity to make "improvements"
Let the Govt have the Apex Council with a monitoring role - No prescriptions please. After all the Govt does provide funds.
The management experts and the Organisational Design experts of IIMs should put their heads together to devise proposals that help IIMs while provide suitable 'face saving' to Mama Irani. ( I read her as a very obstinate person)
I also believe that with proliferation of IIMs the brand is bound to get diluted. It is high time each of the Institution should plan 'renaming' and re-branding itself.
